Contacts Exporter for WhatsApp Web Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 9, 2026
Contacts Exporter for WhatsApp Web (“the extension”) is a Google Chrome extension developed by FCS Apps (“the developer”). This policy explains which data the extension processes and what happens to it.
Summary
The extension reads the names and phone numbers of the contacts saved in your WhatsApp address book only when you click its icon, and only on your own computer, and turns them into a file in the format you choose. No data is ever sent to the developer or to any third party.
What does the extension do?
When you click the extension icon, it reads the list of contacts saved in your address book from the WhatsApp Web tab open in your browser. When you click “Export”, it creates a file from that list in the format you choose (vCard, Excel, CSV or JSON) and saves it to your computer.
What data is processed?
- The names and phone numbers of the contacts saved in your WhatsApp address book.
- The phone number of the WhatsApp account you are signed in with. It is used only to show you which account is connected and to leave your own number out of the file.
Your messages, chats and media are never read. People who are not saved in your address book are not included in the file. The extension cannot access any website other than WhatsApp Web.
Where is the data processed and stored?
All processing happens inside your browser, on your computer. The extension does not connect to any server and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.
The extension does not store your contacts; they are cleared from memory when the popup closes. The exported file is saved only where you choose and stays entirely under your control. The only thing the extension stores in your browser is the file format you last selected.
Is any data shared?
No. Your data is never sold, rented or transferred to third parties, and it is not used for any purpose other than the extension's single purpose of exporting your contacts. The extension's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Why are the permissions needed?
- Access to
web.whatsapp.comandscripting: to read your contact list from the open WhatsApp Web tab when you click the icon. downloads: to save the exported file to your computer and offer “Show in folder”.
